focus of the Durward W. Owen Risk
Management College is risk management and insurance education for
professional staff, alumni/ae and volunteers of fraternal organizations. We
wish to assist and advise all those involved in the fraternal community to
deliver a consistent message to their members and provide the leadership of
each organization with the knowledge and tools to appropriately prevent and
control their exposed risks.
22nd annual Risk Management College will be held July 11th
at the Sheraton Indianapolis Hotel at Keystone Crossing.
In 2019, the College
will provide two education tracks.
Track I will target traveling consultants, and we are pleased that once again
Lori Hart, Ph.D. (Director of Educational Initiatives, Holmes Murphy and the
Catalyst Agency), Kim Novak (Director of PIKE Health and Safety, Pi Kappa Alpha
Fraternity and CEO, NovakTalks), and Ann Goodman, Ph.D., Associate Director - Student
Activities at Texas A&M University, will lead this Track. The primary focus will be on risk management
education as it relates to alcohol, event planning, hazing and prevention
efforts. Track II programming will
include topics such as claims and legal affairs, sexual assault prevention and
The consultants working with chapters on a daily
basis have the best opportunity to educate, prevent and create change.
The training will provide them with the best tools to help engage our
undergraduates in conversations focused on harm reduction.
Track I Agenda
II will support the needs of directors, executives and other senior staff
members by addressing some of the topical issues of the day, including claims and
legal issues, sexual assault prevention, crisis management and more. The
College will begin at 8:00 a.m. following a continental breakfast, and will
wrap up by 5:00 p.m.
