Durward W. Owen
Risk Management College
focus of the Durward W. Owen Risk
Management College is risk management and insurance education for
professional staff, alumni/ae and volunteers of fraternal organizations. We
wish to assist and advise all those involved in the fraternal community to
deliver a consistent message to their members and provide the leadership of
each organization with the knowledge and tools to appropriately prevent and
control their exposed risks.
22nd annual Risk Management College was held July 11th at
the Sheraton Indianapolis Hotel at Keystone Crossing.
In 2019, the College
provided two education tracks. Track
I targeted traveling consultants; once again Lori Hart, Ph.D. (Director of
Educational Initiatives, Holmes Murphy and the Catalyst Agency), Kim Novak
(Director of PIKE Health and Safety, Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity and CEO,
NovakTalks), and Ann Goodman, Ph.D., Dean of Students, New Mexico State
University, led this Track. The primary
focus was on risk management education as it relates to alcohol, event
planning, hazing and prevention efforts.
Track II programming included topics such as claims and legal affairs,
sexual assault prevention and more.
